How to Clean Solar Panels in Pakistan (Without Damaging Them)
Updated October 2026 · GharSamaan buying guide
Dust is the quiet tax on every solar installation in Pakistan. Studies and installer experience agree: a dirty panel produces noticeably less power. The good news is that cleaning is a 20-minute job with the right brush. Here is the full method.
What you need
- Telescopic solar cleaning brush (12 or 17 feet to match your roof)
- Low-pressure water: a garden tap or magic hose pipe
- Solar panel shampoo for stubborn spots
Step by step
- Clean early morning or evening. Never clean hot panels at midday; cold water on hot glass risks thermal stress.
- Rinse first. Wash loose dust off with low-pressure water.
- Brush gently. Extend the telescopic brush, wet the soft head, and sweep in straight lines. Let the bristles do the work; no scrubbing pressure needed.
- Spot-treat grime. Dab solar shampoo on bird droppings or sticky spots, wait a minute, brush lightly.
- Final rinse. Rinse top to bottom so dirty water runs off the panel edge, not back across clean glass.
What not to do
- No pressure washers on panels (warranty risk).
- No detergents, acids or abrasive pads.
- Do not walk on the panels.
How often
Lahore, Karachi and dusty Punjab: every 2 to 4 weeks. Cleaner northern areas: monthly. After a dust storm, clean the next morning.
